An Evening with Edwidge Danticat: We're Alone

  • 1302 North 3rd Street Harrisburg, PA, 17102 United States (map)

The Harrisburg Book Festival is honored to welcome renowned author Edwidge Danticat to Harrisburg for a conversation and signing on her new book, We’re Alone. This event is free and open to the public!

Event Details:

Edwidge Danticat is an irresistible presence on the page. Tracing a loose arc from her childhood to the recent events in Haiti, the essays gathered in We’re Alone include personal narrative, reportage, and tributes to mentors and heroes such as Toni Morrison, Paule Marshall, Gabriel García Márquez, and James Baldwin that explore several abiding themes: environmental catastrophe, the traumas of colonialism, motherhood, and the complexities of resilience.

Full of heart, outrage, humor, clear thinking, and moral questioning, while reminding us of the possibilities of community, We’re Alone is a book that asks us to think through some of the world’s intractable problems while deepening our understanding of one of the most significant novelists at work today.

  • This event is free and open to the public. Registration is not required, but we’d appreciate an RSVP over on Facebook!

  • All book festival events, unless otherwise noted, will take place on the Midtown Scholar Bookstore’s main stage.

  • Seating is general admission; first come, first served.

  • A public book signing will immediately follow the discussion. Purchasing an author’s new book from the Midtown Scholar Bookstore is required for entry to the signing line. (Additional copies of a book may also be signed if time permits).
