I’m an author. How do I request that you carry my book?

We are happy to consider carrying your book on our shelves. We stock a highly curated selection of new books and occasionally feature new releases by regional authors. If you would like to submit a print book for consideration, please visit our inventory submission page for more information about our selection process, discount terms, and some tips and advice based on our experience over the years. Please note that at this time, we are not accepting requests for self-published books.

I’ve recently published a book. How do I request an author event?

If you would like to be considered for a local author book signing, please visit our author event request submission page for more information. At this time, we are not accepting proposals for main stage author events. These events are coordinated separately with publishers, and are subject to a separate evaluation process. Each event request will be evaluated according to our submission guidelines, and all decisions from the events team are final. 

Do you buy used books?

Yes! Our current in-store book buyback hours are every Thursday between 2pm and 6pm on the American History floor. No appointment necessary. For more information about the type of books we prefer, our pricing guidelines, and donation requests, visit our book buying page. 

What is your return policy?

All returns are handled on a case-by-case basis, subject to management discretion. At this time, we do not accept returns for used books. We only accept returns for new books, purchased in-store, within seven days of purchase. Returned items must be in their original, salable condition. To return an item, bring your original receipt and we're happy to offer you a refund in the form of your original payment.

Does YOur Online Inventory Match your In-Store INVENTORY?

The used book inventory found online at www.midtownscholar.us may not necessarily be available in-store, and inventory between our e-commerce division and retail division will differ. Selection, condition, and prices will vary between both locations. We do not price match at this time, as condition and format may vary between online and in-store pricing.  

Can you accommodate bulk orders?

Yes! We provide customer service for bulk-purchase orders. We would be happy to work with you on your book order needs — whether it’s for a large quantity of books for conference attendees, business associates, or school students, we’re capable of providing you with fast, friendly customer service at varying discount rates. Can I reserve the bookstore for my private event/wedding?

At this time, the bookstore is not available to rent. 

Do you allow photo shoots? 

Yes! Please contact shop [at] midtownscholar [dot] come with your preferred date and time-frame. We are able to accommodate most requests, as long as it is during in-store hours and customer browsing is not interrupted.
